Referee Rounds earns its wall.
Three men stand on the roof of a stripped down sedan, rifles cracked open toward a sky the color of bruised rose stucco. One wears a referee's stripes, calling nothing, blowing no whistle, complicit by costume alone. Blood blooms across a raised palm in ochre red, the only wet color in a field of dry impasto strokes. This is a photograph of celebration mistaken for war, or war mistaken for celebration, and nobody in the frame seems to know which. Judgment stands right there in black and white stripes and still says nothing.
