Statement

A celadon-furred cat holds its ground in a field of embroidered peonies, rendered with the obsessive stitch-by-stitch texture of folk needlework rather than paint. The flushed rose-quartz sky and a gilded chrysanthemum sun press against the scene like a wax seal on something ceremonial. Dark forest-green fronds flank the animal with a formality that borders on devotion. Those amber eyes do not wonder. They have already decided. The garden does not contain the cat. The cat permits the garden.
