Avery Conservatory stages birds as if they were portraits with their own politics. Parrots, finches, crows, swallows, and canaries hold court inside hibiscus, grape, camellia, and dark foliage. The backgrounds are not passive skies; they are parlour walls, verdicts, and theatrical fields of rose, terracotta, crimson, and teal.
Because the collection already carries dense botanical colour, the room should feel composed rather than loud. Hunter green walls make the birds feel archival, warm plaster softens the rose grounds, and dusty terracotta can make the works feel almost built into the architecture.
