The peonies crush against each other, dried blood reds bleeding into bruised pink, ruffled white centers going soft at the edges like they are already surrendering. Hypericum berries wedge into the gaps like punctuation nobody asked for. Nothing here has room to open fully, and that crowding is the whole point.
