The Paper Boat
A ship's promenade deck stands abandoned, its lacquered mahogany boards holding the composed geometry of columns and arch against a sea that has lost all composure. Prussian-navy swells heave beyond the railing, white-capped and violent, while inside the lamp hangs in its brass fittings like a held breath. The room exists. The storm exists. Neither acknowledges the other. This is what it looks like to keep your structure while everything outside of you breaks.
