Four faces, one exhale. The blue smoke does not rise from cigarettes or fire, it pours straight from open throats like something they have been holding since childhood and finally let go. Red mouths stretch past comfort, past politeness, into the shape rage actually takes before anyone teaches you to soften it. The checkered collars and gold hoops root this in something familiar, someone's cousin, someone's sister, someone you have been. This is what four generations of swallowed words sound like when they finally exit at once.
