Meridian (Dawn State)

Meridian (Dawn State) works in cold blue, graphite, first-light grey — a vertical meridian rising through tonal bands. Its subject is threshold; the instant before colour arrives; the recurring concerns are ascent, division, dawn. Within Quiet Geometries, it belongs to a sequence preoccupied with the discipline of the single gesture — how little a surface needs to hold a viewer. The work does not depict a place so much as the memory of attention paid to one. It asks to be lived with rather than looked at. Rendered as a giclée pigment print, on canson infinity baryta, 100+ year archival rating, it is made to outlast the room it first hangs in.
